The Northi

Before starting this blog let me tell you what this term Northi means. Northi are those people who speak Hindi or any language generated from Hindi and are in the southern part of India due to some fuckin reason. Northi are those people who are considered as a parasite, ghuspaithiya etc etc in cities of south India and are forced to learn their regional or local language. The thing is that not all of the south Indians are like that but a part of them is responsible for so. The only exceptional people who don’t consider themselves as a part of North are Maharashtra people and the most funny thing is they are not considered as the part of south either.
I was unaware of this south north fact until I myself was made to become a part of it. Students like me due to some reasons come to Bangalore for their further studies in south and then they are made to learn a fact that from Indians now they have became north Indians. Then they become used to questions like “do you know our language” or “Wasn’t there any such college in your side”. Two times when we were indulged in the fight with localities the only thing we heard that you are a northi don’t mess with us. The first fight ended simply as like we 300 north Indians running after 15 localities and beating them up to hell including our own Northi brother who was taking their side. And the second time it simply ended with my right wrist broken others having stitches on their head, forehead and in hands. But the thing is not the same in every college of Bangalore. Most of the North Indians come here as my college is a good ranked in VTU. The other colleges where there are very few North Indians or the colleges in far sides of Karnataka can’t do like this otherwise no one will even know what happened to them.
Now this was the thing about South India. Now let’s come to the recent news In Maharashtra what I think that Maharashtra is a neither south nor north state or something like “Bich ka”. If you will ask a Marathi student in my bath or even in whole college he will say that he is a north Indian and they were among those 300 people who ran after those localites.but things in Maharashtra are different I don’t know the actual reason if everyone there is like this or only a group as in south India. I have met both kind of people thanks to this social networking site.Everyday the only thing I hear about my own northi brothers being tortured there. But not everyone. They don’t have guts to speak about any powerful person like Amitabh Bachan or other any high class person there from UP, Bihar, Bengal etc.The people being beaten there are only the low class people like daily laborers, Auto drivers etc.If you ask any software engineer there about the situation his answer would be only that he is in a little fear otherwise no problem.
People in North talk about giving reply. The reply is in the form of ambushing the trains going to Mumbai and filling it with anti Marathi pro northi slogans. There are few Marathi and south Indian employees living in DVC quarters nearby my home. Last time when this happened in Maharashtra people tortured them to hell,Bycotting them, No one playing with their children or talking to them or even in school where their teacher giving them additional homework. But this was not the solution. A common Indian will simply believe what he will hear or see instead of looking for the facts by himself. If I ask force a south Indian staying in north India to learn Hindi then I will make a fool of myself only. Their Hindi is far better then me. And the best thing about north is that we people there fight among ourselves only.

Someone had said that an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind. But if this is the solution it is better to be blind then being one with eyes

This blog is based on my personal thoughts experiences and feelings and not generated by any political and regional issues.

Inappropriate assessment of the situation and highly biased article. “do you know our language” or “Wasn’t there any such college in your side" are valid questions which does not justify your reasons for a fight. Further how can you justify the vandalization of Mumbai based trains and boycott of Marathis in DVC areas in North as a mean of reply?

BTW I'm a "northie" too in B'lore.

I think according to the blog, they reacted when 15 locals came to beat them up.

He didn't justify them, he rightly pointed out that these type of actions will only make the MH people believe words of politicians.

Talking about MH, only the people living around Poverty Line are beating up people and that also a part of them. There are very from well settled families interested in these activities.

The one things that strikes me as I read this blog, and other similar articles, blogs, posts etc. regarding this topic is that how some people can manipulate situations politically motivated agendas; and in doing so “use” us common people, play on and with our emotions and sensibilities and ultimately alter (read ruin) out inter-personal relations and the social fabric.

These people need to be and should be punished. But can we punish ourselves for letting ourselves be exploitatively “used” like is being done ? !

Anshul says he faced contempt of a kind in south Indian places for being a “Northie”. And that’s terrible…because, our constitution is supposed to guarantee freedom to move in and settle in any part of the Country, as a “Fundamental Right”. But u see, in this country (as with all places and situations in the world) not having the “fundamentals” in place and working is THE problem.

But hatred and anger is hardly a solution to this problem … in fact, its hardly a solution to any problem !
