The missing I-pod

I normal day with his/her normal lifestyle and following a normal routine. I got a phone call from my home that too a very normal thing as my parents call me every now and then. But the phone call was not as like the normal ones used to be. My mom told that my cousin brother is no more. His death became a front page news as another of the MiG 21 crashed near Punjab. He was Flt. Lt. Manu Akhouri last of the guys in Army from my Generation.I remembered him because my parents used to make me remember him.I was given the continuous and numerous examples of all my siblings whoever made some remarkable achievement.I used to be so much jealous of these kind of guys. I met him for the first time at a marriage and then again in a marriage. The last time I met him was when he came to Ranchi at his Grandmother's place. He had shown me some pics of the place where he took training and his GF.I loved his I-Pod so much that while leaving I stole it. My mom used to tell that he is a brilliant student and even a batch topper. His father is in Army and he followed his father's footsteps. He joined IAF how and when I dunno. Although I was not in contact with him for past few years and now I heard about him that he is no more.
I dont know how to react, Shall i feel proud that he belonged to my family or I feel normal as MiG crashes are just normal news nowdays. His batchmatesd said that he had time to jump out of parachute and letting the plane crash over the village but he chose otherwise. People cry and shout and later they forget and then a new one is there. It seems that Indians (we) have got used to it and change is no more possible

a very sad incident, first of all i will like to salute the bravery of the brave pilot ..and pray to god that god gives strength to his family to bear the loss.all indians are proud of him.
secondly its a case of great shame for our country that we are doing nothing to do away with thios MIG-21 and the defense establisment has zero concern about the life of a piot which takes years to groom.

We Indians get used to it, we start to live on with it than doing something against.

You should probably be angry on the people who run this country.

and anshul its not a regular incident.each such incident is a reminder to our defense ministry that they take proper action in doing away with this MIGS and induct the long due LAC.

Am sorry for your loss. May his soul RIP.

The Indian armed forces is without a doubt the most respected and elite institutions in the world today nd is unfortunately shackled by the corrupt politicos.

A very sad accident indeed. We all are proud of him.
There's some serious matter with the MIG-21 for sure. No wonder, these are called flying coffin.

I dunno how to react to this, coz we are very helpless
what we can do is create blogs/polls and make the Government aware about it, but will it take care.
I am not well read about other countries, but do such crashes occur in very country ???

A Truly sad reflection of the 'chalta hai' mindset of our society. We have such a thick skin that we only realize the great loss due to corruption in defense sector when we loss our loved ones and the ones we knew.
A through introspection for each and every Indian is needed and a hard lobbying in order to improve transparency in defense deals,Improving training methods of trainee pilots, Improving safety measures including the quality of maintenance and spare parts should be the top most priority of such lobbying group.

Was it real incident? So sad man :(.

Really sad. MIG-21s are long due to be decommissioned. Government spends crores of rupees in grooming a fighter pilot and loss of a pilot is considered a bigger loss than the plane itself. MIG crashes have become so common these days that the family members of the deceased in particular and all Indians in general must be given an explanation on its continuation till now.

Let me tell you one thing as a 'self proclaimed expert' on India's defense sector, I would like to point out that upto now IAF's pilot training programe was full of technical faults.Any trainee pilot of IAF(Or any air force) in the world
first needs certain flying hours in 4 stages of training.
1)Cessna two sitter propeller engine for beginners
2)Currently Kiran jets are used(Intermediate Advanced Jet Trainer(AJT) which is to be inducted in 'near future' as Hawk purchased from UK)
3)Mig 21
4)Advanced super sonic jets like Su-30/MKI, Miraj 2000, LCA etc.

Now IAF is badly missing the 2nd stage intermediate training program as Hawks are not yet fully delivered and the Kiran jets are very preliminary level subsonic jets and transition from Kiran to super sonic and Mig 21(with complex avionics)becomes troublesome for any trainee pilot like forcing the kid to jump from 4th standard to 10th directly. That crucial intermediate step misses. However due to corruption and large scale middle agent skull-dogery forces the delay in deals as well as CAG pointing that out to further delay it like a two-edge sword. And the victims of this delay are our innocent skilled pilots.:(

This is not the first time that our country has lost a good son who cared about her deeply. And we are such insolent bastards at the helm of power that we would remain the thick skinned bull without a spine.

Those jets are flying coffins and are still being used because of mofo polticians and middlemen not allowing modernisation of the forces.

I am really sorry to think that my country no longer is great because we are run by first grade eunuchs and we make them our pimps.

Anshul, hope you recover from this irreplaceable loss soon and become as responsible as your deceased cousin who set an example for all of us.

Sorry for my offensive language.

To be frank and be part of reality it's shameful side of our country as usage of such machines still hasn't been stopped :|

A shattering incident . I salute d spirit of d braveheart . The problem with 'us' is that we allow everything to happen . Anyone can get away with anything anywhere , anytime . Everything goes...when will people wake up...when will we be the change we want to see . How many more of our brothers have to shed their blood before our leaders take notice ?

This happening in a diferent country would be a reason for national mourning . But for us its a common thing...thats how disgraceful our lives have become .

and then i just sit down and remember him... thats all i can do... remember him...

this blog made me remember him more...
